MDRC Dressage – 3 August 2019 – NASH’s first show

I’ve been riding Nash for about 3 weeks now, so have decided to join Misterton & Distrtict Riding Club (MDRC) to get him out and about a bit. Dressage on Saturday and Show Jumping on Sunday at the club field was this weekend’s plan. Lynsey came to support (and call the tests for me). Bit of a stressful start as Nash still does not understand how to rear unload from the trailer, so that was a traumatic start for him as he did get quite upset about walking backwards off the ramp!

He warmed up well and was very well behaved, but somehow managed to pull a front shoe off one horse before we were due to go! He didn’t really notice and (apart from spooking at some oil barrells to the left of C on entry) worked very nicely. We did have an error of course, which meant 2 marks deducted, but he stilll managed to win the class! Well done Nash!

Nash was a bit more opinionated in the second test and was rather strong, but still felt quite rideable and no threats of explosions. He finished in second place. So all in all a good day out, he was well behaved and enjoyed his morning.

Chris came along and took some lovely photos (in between listening to the Ashes on the car radio😊) we’ve even got a pic of the shoe he managed to wrench off…. Attempts to find a farrier to put the shoe back on failed – so no show jumping for us this weekend, which is a shame, but we’ll get plenty more outings.

Misterton & District are a really friendly Riding Club, doing lots of team RC comps – looking forward to more fun wih them over the rest of the season.

“An attractive horse and pleasing partnership, lots to like. Now needs to develop more equal suppleness and develop a slightly more uphill way of going for higher marks to come.”
