What a fantastic weekend! I wasn’t sure whether to enter this as Finn’s mud fever is healing really well and I didn’t want her over-reach boots to rub. We came up with a plan to put some melanin and VetWrap over the area to protect her. This worked really well……
We arrived late but did do a sprint course walk, walk trot and canter and only two jumps in the warm up!
Six had jumped before me and there were no clear rounds – the 16 jumps were all in the arena and the course was quite tight. I got her together and we started: she jumped a really nice round – a bit hairy at number 13 as it was at the side of the arena and there was a ‘killer’ trailer parked which meant we came into the jump (a skinny) at a 45 degree angle – but cleared it.
We were the first of only two clear rounds for the class – Lynsey had the other clear and was faster – pushing us into second place. I was thrilled! Also received £10 winnings – in the money this weekend and Finn has quite literally earned her keep this week – £30 overall. Lynsey finished in 1st place but also won the Winter Arena Eventing Series and got a lovely big rosette and a sash.
Was so proud doing the lap on honour – go team Swancote!
