Jane had remembered that I had asked her to ride Nash to get a bit of a feel for him, which she did. She did say that he hung on to the left rein, she did quite a lot of work with him moving sideways (which he didn’t really appreciate lol) and ignoring the mini-tantrums throws in from time to time….
I rode him afterwards and we worked on getting to grips with the lateral work – developing my feel and maintaining the uphill tendency, the lateral work really helped with suppleness and lifting his shoulders – surprise, surprise!!! We did more work in 1st, second and 3rd gear in the trot. Making sure to bring things back a notch to really explain and develop understanding – much easier to explain in first gear – or walk – if either of us don’t get it!!
