Novice Dressage @ Weston Lawns Equestrian

Discipline: Dressage
Test: Novice 24 Judge Richard Baldwin
Percentage: 65.38% Place: 2nd
Our first time visiting Weston Lawns, it was only about half an hour from home so a good place to go to.  Chris met me there as he wanted to be there for our first Novice Dressage competition.  He came with his camera so it could be memorialised!

Finn was very relaxed this evening, it was quite busy in the warm up so I just walked her around for a little while to get us used to the action!
She worked very quietly – not her usual forward self – I had to borrow someone’s whip to get her a bit more active off the leg.  We worked to our time and then went to the steward – they were running late – by about 15-20 minutes!  So we just walked about again for 10 minutes, not ideal but at least it wasn’t raining!  We went in for our test and Finn felt very obedient.  I was pleased with the Medium Canter as we’ve only practiced this once.  I was also very pleased to get a 7 for the walk work.
Judge’s comments were “Rhythmical bold paces shown.  Needing to develop more balance to the hinds to develop fluency and ease to the movements”.
Chris’ photos were really great I thought – the collage shows a few and the gallery below scrolls through a few more.
