Our first attempt at Elementary!
Nash felt a bit behind the leg working in today, so we had a few forward canters to get him moving and thinking forward. He dried up on me a bit in the test, curling up a bit and getting behind the leg again, so I agree with the comments that he was “deep” from time to time.
The ‘error of course’ didn’t help our score, which would have been 63.6% without the -2 for going wrong!
Some work to do on engagement and self carriage, as well and being sharper off the leg. But overall pleased with our first attempt at this level – and the win is a bonus!!
Judge’s comments were:
“Lovely horse who is capable of a good test when working in a more uphill balance with the poll at the highest point. Needs to work over a more supple topline and develop the self carriage to achieve this. “
