An early start today as Nigel and Tissie squeezed me in as a late entry.  Dressage at 07.36 (second to go).  It was cold and frosty – but dry. Chris and I walked the XC course – it looked very inviting – apart from the open ditch at fence 3!

We got back and tacked up for the dressage – I was looking forward to the day ahead.  Finn was a bit fresh warming up – and threw a buck into the dressage test – finishing on 35.  The judge’s comments were: “Willing horse – now needs to develop the uphill balance and carriage”.

FullSizeRender (12)IMG_1520Finn felt great warming up for SJ – she was jumping out of her skin (there were some big warm up fences)!! A fabulous clear round (this is becoming a habit now)….

FullSizeRender (11)Cross Country was absolutely fantastic – Finn was really on fire and taking me into the fences (after the ditch – see video)!  The ditch dramas are still there, but the video is evidence that we can do it. Not pretty – but we made it to the other side penalty free. Apologies for Chris’ commentary!

The only issue we had was that my sat nav went completely awry after fence 13 – i went left over a little bridge into another field looking for fence 14 wasting a a lot of time (10.4 pens) and having to come back into the correct field to continue with the course!  What an eejit…..  This lost us 4th place!

Never mind – I’m super pleased with how Finn is going and definitely feeling that we’ll be ready for the BE100 at Norton Disney.
