Our first BD affiliated test, on a quiet Bank Holiday Monday! Working in was in the indoor, which was quite dark and on a ‘carpet’ surface, so quite an unusual feel to ride on. The test itself was outside in the 20×60 arena – happily the weather was dry and a little cooler than Vale View on Saturday.
Nash was quite settled and worked in well, and was obedient in his test. I was trying to think of ‘more’ in the paces, but fear I rushed him rather which didn’t help the overall picture – as noted in the judge’s comments.
We earned 3 BD points for this, our first BD show – very pleasing!
Judge’s comments were:
“A lovely forward thinking horse, but at times not working over a supple back and steps rather hurried and unbalanced. Once developed the stride will open rather than hurry and the balance will improve.”
